Patrick was publicized as "a lovable rascal singing lighthearted songs about maidens and mountains." Following the triumphant Pacific Coast Band album debut, he began work on the next project for the ensemble. Between college and university classes and a part-time job as a reading teacher, Patrick composed new tunes for a live show called Highway One, which also featured poetry recitation, humorous vignettes, and inspired covers of beloved hits.
