The Pacific Coast Band carried on through several personnel changes, but in 2009, Patrick announced the ensemble's retirement. He was seriously injured following a car crash, and the band engineer died suddenly in the midst of constructing the group's new recording studio. The final live performance at Kulak's Woodshed featured an original song-cycle that included: "Bloom Sweet Rose," "Under the Sun," "Dusk," "Time," and "Across the Distant Sky."
